Most of the time when installing new software we almost forgot that not all software are safe. Some may damage our system files, some may become outdated, some may become corrupted and some may even contains adware, spyware, virus, etc.
So to keep your system safe and free from all of these unwanted changes, following are some of the steps that need to be considered before installing any software:
Create a Restore Point (Backup)
Before installing any software, remember to always create a backup because if the installation fails or the program contain virus and may hijack your system. You can always restore your system to previous stage.
Scan for Virus
Every program setup is not always safe or virus free. So always scan your setup with an up to date antivirus to reduce the risk of getting your system infected.
Always opt for Custom Installation
While installing any software, always select the Custom Installation option because this will allow you to control the installation process as many programs especially the freeware and adware try to download and install components such as toolbars that are not required for the full function of the program. Some program also tries to change the default homepage and search engine of the web browser. By choosing Custom Installation you may have the option to unselect and prevent this changes.
Restart your Computer
Most of the program after the installation process is completed. The program will ask to restart the system. Because most software especially the system management program will not function properly until the system is restarted. So do restart your system.
