When you look at your computer LCD for many hours, your eyes may feel strain. So f.lux is a freeware that adjust a computer display’s color temperature which will reduce eye strain especially during night time. You can turn down your monitor’s brightness but that is not the main issue. Color temperature is the main issue. Most computer emit bluish light that looks good in daytime, but become uncomfortable to look at in a dark room. So what f.lux will do is that it will ask for your location in which it will figure out the approximate sunset time for your location and it will use warmer colors at night which mean that white colors will appear a bit reddish which will reduce the bluish glow.
f.lux has the option that allows you to adjust your light for both day and night. Personally I configured it to 5000K for day and 3400K for night.
It also has the option that allows you to quickly disable it for an hour or for the entire night if you are doing color sensitive work
“Movie Mode” is also another option that allows you to disable f.lux for two and half hour. There are more option in the f.lux, you can check it by yourself and see the effect.
N.B: Any changes made by f.lux is not permanent.
F.lux is available for Windows, Linux, Mac and iPhone/iPad.
Download f.lux from official website, install it on your devices and let us know what do you think about it in the comment.
