Windows Registry is a hierarchical database that stores system settings, drivers, configuration files etc. It got all the configurations setting on your computer. So, if your registry is corrupted or by mistake you delete or incorrectly modify some registry key, then problems might come up in your computer. That’s why it is important to backup your Registry. By doing so, you can later restore if something went wrong. Are you one of the users that keep changing the or tweaking the computer Registry? - First of all, open your Registry Editor by pressing Windows Key + R then, type regedit and hit enter.
- Make sure you highlight the Computer icon.
- Now click on File and then Export…
- Enter any name of your choice and select the file type as Registration File, then browse where you want to save it and tap Save in order to save the registry file.
By doing the above-mentioned steps, it will save the entire Registry. Alternatively, if you want to save only a specific key or value (that key or value that you are going to modify), you can navigate to that specific sub-key, highlight it and then follow from the step 3 above.
